I quit documenting my derby bruises quite a while ago…but this one was too excellent to not share. Keep in mind I have never been in a fist fight so having a bruised knuckle kinda makes me feel like a bamf. Lol im sure I knocked it on someone’s helmet but whatever…it’s still awesome. #bruise #rollerderby #battlescars #derbygirl #bamf

It would have the worst reviews on tripadvisor.com because women on the rag could be given gold bars dipped in chocolate on top of cheesecake at check in but “the bathroom is filthy and disgusting” in other words “I dont like the decor.

So I found this Instagram and I had to post it. This was a selfie I took before my first derby practice ever. I have come so far since that day! I can’t believe its only been a year! I feel like I have done so much and learned so much and it is crazy how much I have changed since then.
This photo will always be dear to me…always.

I am glad that this “model” is confident.  What I am not glad for is that she has to come out and even say that because there are a million women out there that still refuse to quit drinking the (sugar free) Kool-Aid.  Look…here’s the sitch…Everyone is different.  Some of us are fat, some are skinny.  If you don’t like the way you look…do something to change it.  If you like the way you look have enough self confidence to tell people to fuck off.  It’s just stupid.  We aren’t airbrushed walking art installations we are people.  Sometimes im not clean.  Sometimes my hair is ratchet.  Sometimes I wear makeup, sometimes I don’t.  Im not skinny nor do I care to be.  Skinny doesn’t hold back the jammer as easily.  I am clinically speaking OBESE.  I have fat on my body.  It’s because I eat food that tastes good.  My body isn’t the picture of health.  I smoke cigarettes.  I am working out though.  I work out and I have been trying to eat better cause diabeetus…but in any case…I just don’t see why with all the image positive shit going around we still have to see beautiful women tell us that they are confident…um no shit…but honestly that woman up there telling me she’s happy with her body isn’t some great surprise.  If I was here I would be too.  Oh…and SHAME ON YOU if you think she shouldn’t be…SHAME ON YOU

    When white girls know...
Woman: *on cellphone* Why am I leaving you? Why am I--I'll tell you why.
Woman: Here's why. You don't respect me.
Woman: You called me a whore in front of my children.
Me: *says nothing, but has a face like O.O*
Woman: You don't respect me. And you know, there some white chick here in the store, she walking, she heard me say that and she make a face.
Woman: Because even she know you a piece of shit.

    How To Stay in Hotels

There are lots of ways to book reservations and stay at a hotel.  You have a choice in what type of Hotel Citizen you want to be.  I have worked in the industry now for over 14 years and am the Director of Sales and Marketing and I have some excellent tips for how to make magic happen on your next stay.

    1.  There is really no good time to call and make a reservation with the front desk.  However, if you are going to call you should call between 12:30pm-2:30pm.  Before that they are dealing with check outs and business and lunch.  After that they are dealing with Check in’s and issues.  After 11pm…just don’t.  The night auditor is a rare species of front desk.  They have a lot on their plate just being awake and alert.  Just don’t bother them.

    2.  If you find a lower rate on Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity etc BOOK WITH THEM.  The hotel pays these third party providers a fee and they offer you great rates that a lot of the time we can can beat…but shouldn’t because we pay for these services so that we can use them.

    3.  This is important and a major annoyance factor…Don’t ask for a million discounts.  You can’t use more than one.  You can get the best rate by stopping along the interstate and picking up a coupon book.  You can call the hotel and ask if they have rooms available at that rate before driving there.  You can’t typically reserve or hold a room.  This is a walk in rate and don’t be a cheapskate.  This is a rock bottom rate for the hotel.  Don’t ask for deeper discounts, be glad the hotel is offering you what they are.

    4.  Hotels are used nightly by different people.  Some people were raised in such a way that they treat rooms with respect.  Others trash the rooms and make huge messes.  Some play pranks.  Others break things.  Housekeepers aren’t always amazingly observant folks.  Sometimes they miss a little mess or something broken.  Basically what I am trying to say is that things happen.  The older the hotel is, the more things are going to happen.  You can walk into a room and immediately tell if something is wrong.  Just take a long hard whiff.  Does it smell musty or moldy?  Is it wet feeling in the room?  These are signs that this may not be the best place to sleep for the evening.  You don’t have to be a dick about it and don’t just say “Oh whatever I’ll just deal with it” and then level the clerk at the front desk in the morning when you had a sleepless night and you are grumpy.

    5.  Hospitality is hard, and the majority of our guests are gracious, kind, and polite.  However, you should know that there are some people who no matter what will never treat anyone with respect.  You should also know that we experience these people on a daily basis.  There are always the guests that will find a million little things wrong so that they can get a free night.  Large hotel groups empower guests with loyalty programs which are misleading and in the long run don’t amount to much…but you can’t tell them that.  They are Elite Diamond Members!  We deal with all sorts of people all of the time.  It’s hard.  We may not always be happy go lucky and giggly.  We may not always grant you “southern hospitality” we will however give you professional customer service.  If you feel like you aren’t getting that, talk to a manager.  Keep your emotions down.  Approach them in a non-offensive manner.  Let them know that you are just looking out for them.

    6.  Your bad revue doesn’t hurt the business.  It hurts the employees.  It hits them the hardest and while some of the time it is their fault, you really have no idea what goes on day to day.  If you are having a bad stay let the front desk know.  Ask them for a new room, if there is anything that could make your stay better ask for it.  They are there to make you feel at home and most hotel workers are willing to do that.

When you leave a bad review online it is received by a manager.  Typically that manager has little to no idea of the exact condition of every room in the hotel.  If you ADMIT in your review that you told nobody of the problem…you should probably just quit writing and move on.  You had a chance to have a good stay…or at the least a stay better than you originally were having and your silence blew that for you.

You should also know that when something great happens…or if the stay was simply adequate…those sorts of reviews are great to see as well.

    7.  You have a cellphone.  Nope…don’t argue…you have one.  Land line phones have their rightful place in the Smithsonian at this point.  Your phone…even if it isn’t smart has an alarm.  Now look on the bedside table in your room.  You see that clock thing?  That’s an alarm clock.  So that is two devices that you will have in any hotel you might be staying at.  So really with the wake up calls?  Just knock it off.  Ain’t no front desk person got time for your wake up call.  And before you say anything else…we know you don’t have someone at home call you to wake you up.  So don’t try that shit.

    8.  Free Breakfast is not Free Lunch and Snacks for the whole day.  Leave your purse, your togo box from the outback, or any other receptacle of storage in your room.  That’s beyond rude.

    9.  Pool hours are pool hours.  Don’t press it.  There’s a good reason.  People are disgusting.  The chemicals need time to work.  Also understand that pools need maintenance all the time.  There might be a day that you come to the hotel and the pool is closed.  Shit happens…go find something else to do and move on.  Your kids will have just as much fun at the beach, the park, or Chuckie Cheese.

    10.  Here is the biggest one of all…and that is why I saved it for last.  When a front desk person says “this is really the only thing I can do.”  Take that at face value.  Maybe it’s not the only thing they can do, but if they are cutting you off it’s probably because you have been a complete dick and they are done with you.  If you push it forward…and you like being shut down by management…you can probably speak to a manager who will generally align with the front desk.  On the off chance that you get a lazy front desk clerk who doesn’t care about their job…well…chance are you won’t get what you want…but they won’t be in the industry very long either.

I hope that you all have learned something here.  Take this info and use it well.  Have awesome vacations that exceed expectations.  Just remember when staying in hotels…don’t be a dick.  That’s not at all necessary.
